    Notes for UK Visitors
Even though NoiseFactory is based in the UK, most prices here are quoted in US dollars - the slightly longer shipping time is usually more than made up for by considerably lower prices in America. Buying goods online is just as easy in dollars as Sterling, because credit card transactions are automatically converted to local currency at the prevailing exchange rate. In fact, online dollar purchases are cheaper even than getting your bank to generate a money order, because banks typically charge extortionate conversion fees, whereas credit cards usually charge none at all. To buy a book or CD in dollars, just fill out the online forms provided - the rest happens automatically.

    Ancient Egypt

Although much has been learnt over the last century about the life and language of Ancient Egypt, we still recommend that you start with one or two of the Victorian classics.

    E. A. Wallis Budge

The Mummy: A Handbook of Egyptian Funerary Archeology
Few authors have provided better insights into Victorian egyptology than E. A. Wallis Budge, whose 1893 book The Mummy has been used as our main source for images of Ancient Egyptian Mathematics. The book remains as fresh and readable today as when it first appeared, and includes detailed listings of all the dynastic leaders from Narmer, right through to post-Cleopatra Roman occupation. The sections on hieroglyphics provide enough information for the interested reader to teach themselves how to read basic inscriptions, and the historical notes put everything clearly into context.

    J. Gardner Wilkinson

The Ancient Egyptians: Their Life and Customs
Originally published in 1854, The Ancient Egyptians : Their Life and Customs is an exhaustive study of the minutiae of everyday objects and the uses to which they were put, as deduced from funerary offerings and wall paintings. Each chapter deals with a separate aspect of daily life, ranging from the treatment of guests at parties to the construction of doors and locks, the priesthood to the five-tier class system. Each section includes a vast array of illustrative woodcuts showing objects in use, as depicted by the Ancient Egyptians themselves, or taken from Gardner Wilkinson's collection of artifacts, or those of his associates.
