When you apply to join the Ring (by filling out the form on the next page), you will automatically be sent an email by WebRing, the company who make the web ring technology possible. This email includes the following message, where "HTMLfragment" is what they call the HTML code that describes the control panel.
The HTMLfragment to cut and paste on your homepage should be shown below. However, please note it is possible the RingMaster for Synthetic Folk has not configured their HTMLfragment within the Webring system, in which case the HTMLfragment below will say "This is a generic, default HTMLfragment - modify me or remove this line." If this is the case, you should find instructions for obtaining and editing the HTMLfragment manually on the Synthetic Folk homepage, at http://freespace.virgin.net/mike.stannett/webring/index.html.This message is misleading, because the HTML code is not shown in the email. Instead, you have to follow the link that I've highlighted in yellow. Note. When you receive this email, the characters "__YOUR_ID__" won't be there. Instead you'll see a number. This is your personal ID number, which you can use to change the details you gave when you first registered the site as a member. When you follow the link (as it appears in the email you'll receive, not as it appears above), you'll be shown exactly what the HTML code for your basic control panel looks like. You can then cut-and-paste the HTML code and insert the control panel directly into your web page.http://www.webring.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=syntheticfolk;id=__YOUR_ID__;htmlcode
This is what the HTML description of the control panel looks like, except that the version you'll be told about in the email will already have all the tricky bits sorted out for you. When you apply for membership, you have to tell us things like what your site's title is, and this information will be inserted into the HTML code for you. So, for example, instead of seeing "YOUR_SITE_NAME" in the code, you'll see the actual title you told us about.

Info
If you are competent at HTML, you may wish to redesign the control panel to make it fit in with the look and feel of your site. This is fine, although you mustn't change the links that are used (or the Ring may break).
